The earth has a circumference of approx. 40,075 km. If a road was built to cover the entire equator, you could drive once around the earth in a car travelling at 75 mph in around 2 weeks. Of course, a trip around the world is much more exciting when you can see lots of things and travel on lots of different forms of transport, like Phineas Fogg in Jules Verne’s novel ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’. However, on his trip, he didn’t make a stop in Switzerland – and does a trip around the world really count if Switzerland isn’t part of it?
