“Perpetuum mobile” comes from the Latin and means “constantly moving”. “Perpetua mobilia” (perpetual motion) machines are theoretical machines which remain in constant motion without external sources of energy. Unfortunately, this kind of machine would defy the first and second law of thermodynamics and can never exist in reality.
